Boys Medal 3rd at Indoor MOC

Ridge Track & Field Posts Strong Results

The Ridge High School track and field team continued their march through the winter championship season during the last week, with a number of personal best and school record board postings.

The boys team got things started on Wednesday at the Eastern States championship with the 4×800 meter relay of Jon Wey, Brenden McMahon, Matthew Fukushima and Patrick Doran finishing 2 nd in a season best time of 7:57.03. McMahon came back later in the evening to place 3 rd in the 1 mile run in a season best 4:24.30. In the triple jump, Chris Kirkwood moved up to 5 th on the all-time school list with a leap of 39’9”.

On Sunday at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, the 4×800 meter relay of Wey, Tarun Kandra, Fukushima and Doran came back to place 3 rd in 7:57.88, sparked by Doran’s personal best of 1:55.8 on the anchor leg. Brenden McMahon placed 10 th in the 3200 meter run in a time 9:17.46 moving up to #2 on the all-time school list.

Annika Svensson established two personal bests during week, placing 4 th in the 800 at the Eastern States in a time of 2:18.23 and 14 th in the 1600 meter run at the Meet of Champions with a time of 5:05.32. Amanda Cinelli set a new school record in the triple jump at the Eastern States with a leap of 35’10”, qualifying her for the Meet of Champions, where she finished 10th .

The winter season concludes next weekend where athletes will be competing at National Championship meets in New York and Boston.
